The Year of COVID-19
The School Librarian's Club, founded during COVID-19 is one of the modern clubs to have been established in the sub-continent.
In the COVID year, like all, every school suffered the normal functioning and librarians were worst impacted with it. Teachers and other school staff had people to talk and help each but librarians were left alone and this club was formed to come together and help each other in executing the new normal or find a new job by sharing, caring and participating actively.
The club immediately got enormous response not just from India but from International schools, colleges and Universities as well. This initiative started by Jyoti's Library grew bigger and a Governing body was appointed to manage its functioning and spreading literacy.
The role of School Librarian's Club has modified to an extent to keep pace with the changing times. Library automation, institutional archives, metadata and other library events such as story telling, book publishing, reading club, book fairs and awards, authors meet have started happening. The Club, therefore, continues in its main mission by offering a meeting ground for its members - talks, slide-shows and films are organised regularly; the Club offers support to the competitions run by different institutes in India; it has a fair stock of library knowledge which is shared with its members for free of cost. The club is coming up with its in house journals, newsletter on subscription basis. These publications are aimed to be recognised as the foremost authority for school libraries in the sub-continent.
The club enjoys a worldwide membership, and has most of the well experienced and educated librarians amongst its members.
