Born in Rourkela - The Steel City of Orissa Ashok, completed his Post Graduation in Management Studies from Pune. His frst job at ICICI Bank could not hold him and he left for Mountaineering in Garhwal Himalaya. This was just the BEGINNING! His life as a Mountaineer was completely out of box, and he never looked back but kept climbing numerous mountains across the globe and thoroughly explored several historical places in the Himalayan Mountains. Few of his notable historical expeditions are Mt Draupadi – the mountain where Draupadi left her body, Mt Dunagiri – the mountain where Lord Hanuman found Sanjeevani Buti (Herbal Plant), Mt Nanda Devi – the mountain where CIA & IB lost the nuclear powered espionage device, the medieval silk route of Milam Valley in Kumaon Himalaya etc.
After having rich hands-on experience and knowledge of the Himalaya region, he was invited by the U.S.A Government for training and cultural exchange programmes.
His writing career began when he felt that he should share his life and expedition experiences with the people of India. Adventure and mythological aspect of the Himalaya explored during his real-life expeditions has made a huge impact in his writings.
He took a months’ time to write ‘The Whiteout Night’ where a group from Germany came to explore mysterious Gangotri glacier. After having travelled the world, they found India very amusing; still its colour and vibrations illumine them. On the journey, a member finds the love of her life but nature challenges their limits and spirits and not everybody gets to return home with sweet memories.
He draws inspiration from Amish Tripathi – An Indian Fiction Writer and Jon Krakauer – The American Writer and Mountaineer.
